About the Challenge
Driven by centuries of intense fossil fuel usage and greenhouse gas emissions, long-term shifts in climate alongside increasingly frequent and severe weather threaten human health, housing, food production, biodiversity, and numerous other aspects of our daily lives and our planet’s health.
UC Davis is committed to leveraging our full campus to create solutions to the accelerating challenges of climate change, especially for disadvantaged and underserved communities who feel the negative outcomes more quickly and deeply. Drawing expertise from each of the 11 schools and colleges across campus, we are pursuing research and technology to address the drivers of climate change, mitigate and even reverse the impacts of the changing climate, and help our society and our planet to adapt to the rigors of our new climate reality.
Grand Challenges launched Climate Solutions to connect, accelerate, and amplify the University’s research and innovation on addressing the challenges of climate change. By creating bridges across UC Davis, we can catalyze and fuel powerful, transdisciplinary collaborations that promote innovative solutions to our climate crisis.
